Q: Why Should I get involved in Manawa CARES?
A: Manawa CARES in much more than just an organization; it is a belief that every single person can have a positive impact in a child's life, in the community, and in society as a whole. The purpose of this organization is to foster activities that will continue to build and uplift the community, to foster positive interactions within the family and community at-large, and finally present opportunities for youth leadership.
 
Q: What are Assets?
A: Assets are the positive building blocks that young people need to grow up to be healthy, principled, and caring adults. The more assets young people have, the more likely they are to engage in positive behaviors and make healthy choices, and the less likely they are to engage in a wide range of high-risk behaviors.

 Q: What are developmental assets?
A: The 40 developmental assets hve been grouped nto eight categories: support, Empowerment, Boundaries and Expectations, Constructive Use of Time, Commitment to Learning, Positive Values, Social Competencies, and Positive Identity.
 
Q: What are some ways that anyone can build Assets?
A: Some simple ways to continue to build assets in any youth include; Encourage teenagers to take leadership roles in their community, Encourage passions and interests in others, Treat all people regardless of age with respect, Be a positive role model in a young person's life, Respect teenagers' privacy but take interest in their friends and activities, Have regular family night to do something fun together, Involve youth in family decisions, Remember that mistakes are part of living and growing, Be responsible for all your thoughts words and actions, Learn and model peaceful ways to resolve disagreement, Dwell on what children do right instead of what they do wrong, Avoid comparing young people with each other, Listen when young people talk about their sense of purpose in life. These are only a few ways in which any single person can foster positive assets within today's youth. The majority of these could help the so called "adults" communicate with each other in more positive ways, also.
 
Q: Why build assets?
A: Asset building helps young peple grow in faith- Research shows that young people who experience more assets are more likely to place a high importance on being religious or spiritual. Asset building helps young people make healthy choices. Asset building opens oppurtunities to link with others in the community. These are only a few of the reasons it is important as a community to help build assets in our young people today.
